Patient Online Services
Barley Practice currently offers patients facilities to:
- Book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online via our website.
- Order, view and print their repeat prescriptions via our website.
- Viewing summary record.
To sign up for online services please complete the form on our Appointments page and bring it to the surgery with photo ID to obtain your user name and password.
Once set up with an online account you can request Detailed Coded Record Access which will enable you to see demographics, allergies/adverse reactions, medications (dose, quantity and last issued date), immunisations, results (numerical values and normal range), value (BP, PEFR), problems/diagnoses, procedure codes (medical or surgical) and codes in consultation (signs, symptoms), codes showing referral made or letters received (no attachments), other codes (ethnicity, QOF).
Once requested this will be passed to your GP for approval on a patient by patient basis.
NHS England requires practices to use the new GP2GP messaging technology, Barley Practice is currently using this, which enables the practice to receive patients’ clinical records electronically as new patients register at the practice. This allows clinicians immediate access to new patient records. More information on GP2GP can be found at www.hscic.gov.uk/gp2gp
- Summary Care Record
Summary Care Record
A Summary Care Record is an electronic record which contains information about the medicines you take, allergies you suffer from and any bad reactions to medicines you may have had. Having this information stored in once place makes it easier for healthcare staff to treat you in an emergency, or when your GP practice is closed. Barley Practice intents to start using this by 31st March 2015. More information on Summary Care Records can be found at www.hscic.gov.uk/scr
- NHS Friends and Family Test
NHS Friends and Family Test
The NHS Friends and Family Test is a way of gathering your feedback so that we can continually review our services. It is based on one simple question: “How likely are you to recommend our GP practice to friends and family if they needed similar care and treatment?” Your feedback will help us learn more about what you think of your experience, what you like and what you think we could improve. Ultimately, you are helping us to make changes that will ensure we can offer the best possible care. More information on The Friends and Family Test can be found here: www.england.nhs.uk Please pick up a post card from reception and take a couple of minutes to give us your feedback or click here and print the form to return to us.

- GP Earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (eg. average) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working at Barley Practice in the last financial year was £71,927 before tax and National Insurance. This is for three full time GPs and two part time salaried GPs.
It should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
